Current scholarship opportunities
A number of scholarships specifically intended for Solano students are available on this scholarship application site. To apply for a scholarship, click on the “Sign In” button located in the top right hand corner. The deadlines for these programs vary, so revisit the site often to see if any new opportunities are available. You can find more information about the scholarship programs at SCC here.

Note: You will automatically be considered for most of the scholarships based on your completed General Application. You will only need to complete one General Application, although a few scholarships may require additional information. To complete the General Application, please go to the sign in button at the top right of  the solano.academicworks.com page and sign-in with your Solano College account!  You do not need to create an additional account.

Scholarship searches
There are many Internet sites that offer scholarship searches that include a variety of public and private scholarships. If you decide to look for scholarships elsewhere, here are some ways to avoid scholarship scams:

  • Never pay to apply for a scholarship.
  • Avoid scholarship guarantees
  • Never provide any personal financial information (bank account info, credit card numbers, etc.)

If you are unsure where to start an extended scholarship search, here are three reputable scholarship search services. Remember the tips above and consider opting out of email updates intended to send you ads as they can fill your email with spam.

2024 Keenan Scholarships

Applications for the Keenan Insurance Scholarships are now open for 2024, with up to $9,600 in scholarships available this year.
 
Scholarship funds are available for California community college students studying for a certificate or degree in insurance, risk management, financial services or a related field. The scholarships will be funded on a first-come, first-served basis, with students encouraged to apply through the Financial Aid or Scholarship office by October 31, 2024.
 
Last year, the Keenan Insurance Scholarship helped to positively impact the lives of 15 students across four colleges by providing over $9,000 in scholarships. This year, students can receive up to $600 per semester and up to $1,200 per academic year.
 
The Foundation for California Community Colleges seeks to help lift students out of poverty and put them on a path to a better life through higher education and job opportunities. This scholarship not only offers tangible financial support for students, but seeks to promote and increase the diversity of professionals working within the insurance, and risk management, sectors. 

 

Napa-Solano Audubon Society

Applications for the Napa-Solano Audubon Society are now open for 2024. Application deadline is April 30, 2024.

 

Napa-Solano Audubon Society is a non-profit conservation group committed to monitoring local bird populations and preserving local biodiversity. They provide citizen science projects and educational opportunities to support their conservation work and increase the awareness of natural habitats and the birds that depend upon them.

 

This scholarship provides a monetary award of $2,000.00 for one year to two graduating high school students or Community College students in both Napa and Solano Counties who show a commitment to the environment and the practice of conservation. Their goal is to award one scholarship in Napa County and one in Solano County.

2024 ScholHERships

Application deadline is May 10, 2024. Students can complete the application and mail to: SIVV Twilight Club, P.O. Box 658, Vacaville, 95696 or submit entire application process via email at: vacalanes@comcast.net

 

Soroptimist International of Vacaville Twilight Club will award scholarships of no less than $250 each to individuals who identify as female, pursuing additional training through a vocational/tech school or apprenticeship program. This could also include adult school students that may be enrolled in a short term skills improvement program. You must be a Vacaville resident and currently enrolled or enrolling in a program.

 

The application process is easy, only requiring the completion of an application downloadable at: (https://www.sivacavilletwilight.org/projects),  a brief written autobiography from the student and 2 letters of recommendations. Letters can be from teachers, or even family members. Scholarship can be used for tuition, books, uniforms, supplies, day care and other necessary items for student success. All applicants must identify as female and reside in Vacaville.
