Patrick and Barbara Dentinger established this scholarship in 2022. Their vision is to diversify the industry through exposure by creating opportunities for those who may otherwise not have one. Current Award Amount: $1,500
 

Biomanufacturing (BS) CIRM Grant Scholarship https://solano.academicworks.com/opportunities/3266

CIRM (California Institute of Regenerative Medicine) COMPAS GRANT: The objective of the COMPASS Training Program is to prepare a diverse cadre of undergraduate students for careers in regenerative medicine through the creation of novel recruitment and support mechanisms that identify and foster untapped talent within populations that are historically under- represented in the biomedical sciences, and by combining hands-on research opportunities with strategic and structured mentorship experiences to enhance transition of students to successful careers. Current Award Amount: $5,400.00

Program Events / Activities

Industry Partners, Outreach & Student Engagement

Bioreactor Run Week: Our students ran bioreactors for 24 hours and 5 days to grow transformed genetically engineered cells to produce protein. Students get to experience a process using state of the art equipment used at biomanufacturing labs across the nation.

  • When: Fall Semester – The last week of October (the week before Halloween)

Highschool Expo Outreach Event

  • When: Fall / Spring Semester

BioMarin Meet & Greet: In collaboration with BioMarin, SCC Vacaville Center hosts a yearly networking “Meet & Greet” event. This event is tailored to students who are interested or curious about the biomanufacturing industry field. Students have the opportunity to meet professionals already in the field, ask questions about working in the field, and find out more about what it takes to succeed. The goal is to expose, educate, and provide a platform where students can make long lasting connections.

  • When: Spring Semester
