English as a Second
Language (ESL) Students
NOTE:Â During COVID-19 Social Distancing Protocols we are currently not offering an ESL Assessment. Please call or email using the contact information below, providing your full name, Solano student ID #, and phone number to be added to a contact list when in-person ESL assessments resume.

Students learning English as a second language during childhood, adolescence or as an adult, may participate in the ESL series of tests. There are 3 ESL Tests:
- ESL Language Use Test
- This test determines a student’s correct use of English grammar in sentences
- Number of Questions: 20
- Average Test Time: 35-40 Minutes
- May Test: Twice in 3 Years
- Requirements: Must Take All 3 ESL Tests When Testing
- Re-Test Waiting Period: 1 Week
- ESL Reading Skills Test
- This test assesses a student’s ability to read in English
- Number of Questions: 20
- Average Test Time: 35-40 Minutes
- May Test: Twice in 3 Years
- Requirements: Must Take All 3 ESL Tests When Testing
- Re-Test Waiting Period: 1 Week
- ESL Sentence Meaning Test
- This test assesses a student’s understanding of sentences written in English
- Number of Questions: 20
- Average Test Time: 35-40 Minutes
- May Test: Twice in 3 Years
- Requirements: Must Take All 3 ESL Tests When Testing
- Re-Test Waiting Period: 1 Week
