Solano Community College Recognizes and Celebrates Pride Month

Fairfield, CA – Solano Community College (SCC), proudly joins the global celebration of Pride Month this June. As an advocate for inclusivity, acceptance, and the freedom to be oneself, SCC stands firmly in support of the LGBTQIA+ community and their contributions to our diverse campus and society as a whole.

Pride Month is a time to honor and commemorate the struggles, achievements, and resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community. It is a reminder of the progress made toward equal rights, as well as a call to action for continued support and advocacy. At SCC, we believe in creating a campus environment where all individuals are celebrated, respected, and empowered to thrive.

At Solano Community College, the progressive pride flag has been flying at the Fairfield, Vacaville, and Vallejo campuses since June 1st, and on June 7th SCC’s Governing Board passed resolution 22/23-35 officially recognizing June, 2023 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

SCC embraces the values of inclusivity, acceptance, and authenticity. We believe that diversity enriches our community, fosters innovation, and prepares our students to thrive in a global society. Pride Month allows us to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and reaffirm our commitment to creating an environment where all individuals can flourish.

With events produced by the SCC Pride Club, we welcome our community to take part in our celebrations as we honor our students, faculty, and staff who are members of the LGBTQIA+ community and our amazing, wonderful allies.

SCC Pride Month Events Thursday, June 15, 2023

Vacaville Center / Vallejo Center (11am – 1pm, Center Lobby)
Come by tables in the lobby where you can find resources, free giveaways, snacks, music, and folks from SCC’s Pride Club and as well as representatives from our community partner, Solano Pride.

Fairfield Campus (3pm – 4pm, Outside Bldg. 400 at Flagpole)
Join us for an affirmation gathering featuring guest speakers Jonathan Cook, Solano Pride Executive Director, SCC Trustee Quinten Voyce, and our own faculty, staff, and students. There will also be music, free giveaways, resources, and fun!
