Student Speaker Nomination

Being the student commencement speaker is an opportunity to convey a message of encouragement and congratulations, share common experience and insights, and inspire fellow graduates to carry their SCC education with pride into the world.

In order to be eligible to be a student speaker at commencement, students must:

  • Complete a petition to graduate with the Office of Admissions and Records.

  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing.

  • Commit to attend and participate fully in the commencement ceremony associated with their college.

SCC faculty are invited to nominate a commencement speaker and students are welcomed to self-nominate (Deadline TDB). Once the nomination forms are received, students will be contacted with information regarding the audition process.

We’re looking for student speakers who will celebrate and inspire their fellow graduates. Student speakers aren’t always the most academically successful, or the most talkative and outgoing but they will have an important message to deliver to their fellow students.
