Mass Notification System Test Alert
ABOUT EVENT
Last week, we conducted our Lockdown Drill and sent out alerts messages through our Regroup mass notification system and the Solano SAFE App. However, we later discovered that some employees and students did not receive the notifications as expected. After investigating the issue, we have identified the following problems and how we have addressed them.
Regarding the Solano SAFE App, we learned from the app provider that if subscribers have not opened the app in over 30 days or so, their smartphones will place the app in a dormant state. This means they will not receive any notifications until they manually open the app again to “wake it up.” To address this, we are advising all Solano SAFE App subscribers to open the app at least once every 15-30 days to ensure they continue to receive important alerts.
To test the effectiveness of our mass notification systems and ensure all of us will receive the alerts, we are scheduling a system-wide test alert for next Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 9 AM. The test message will read, “This is a mass notification system test. This is only a test.” This will help us verify that all employees and students receive the alert as expected. Â After the test, if you or someone you know still did not receive the test alert, please contact us so we can make sure we have your correct contact information.
During a real critical incident, it is crucial that we all receive important alerts in a timely manner. Thank you to everyone for your participation in last week’s Lockdown Drill. We are committed to working together to maintain a safe campus environment for all.
