Minority Coalition

Welcome to SCC's Minority Coalition

The purpose of this organization is to provide a forum for discussing common concerns of Solano Community College groups of color and to take a representative course of action. Solano Community College Minority Coalition would like to welcome all who are interested in participating in the organization by contributing their thoughts, ideas, and willingness to stand up and address issues regarding Equity (or lack of), Diversity and Inclusion as it relates to the success of our students, faculty, and administration of color.  Our first order of business is to grow the organization. Our goal is to attract a strong group of 100 engaged and dependable members (the Talented 100).

Who We Are

History

The Solano College Minority Coalition has been in existence here on campus since the early 1970s. We are now in the year 2022 and we are still here after 50 years of service, involvement and commitment to the issues that concern people of color, their supporters, and associates. Some may attribute our longevity to our commitment and steadfastness to purpose. We agree. However, the essence of our commitment is due to the lack of meaningful change and the growing resistance. We will remain focused on our purpose of this organization until there is clear, visible, and measurable change. We continue to provide a forum for discussing and sharing common concerns of Solano College groups and people of color while we take a representative course of action while addressing some of those concerns.
