Why am I being asked to present ID in person? Why can’t I just email you or do a Zoom call?

Board policy requires us to safeguard the identity of our students and ensure that anyone who interacts financially with Solano Community College is not using a stolen identity.  Recent developments in AI have made it increasingly difficult to verify student identity; bad actors have used automated processes to submit thousands of fictitious enrollments all across the state using stolen identities. 

 

As a result, we are now requiring all new financial aid applicants to appear in person and present two forms of identification, with at least one being photo identification. 

 

Examples of acceptable identification include:

  • State-issued driver’s license
  • State-issued identification card
  • Current passport
  • Social Security card
  • Current residential lease or billing statement with address that matches the address we have on file for you 

 

Note: If there is a reason that you absolutely cannot appear in person for the purpose of verifying your identity so that you can receive financial aid, please complete and mail this form to:
